Are Chiefs disrespected in latest power rankings?

The quicker the 2025 season is in the rearview mirror for the Kansas City Chiefs, the better.

But it appears there is still one thing to tick off before the 2026 offseason can get into full swing, and Chiefs fans might not like it.

With the Chiefs missing the playoffs in 2025 and having a bunch of injuries, most notably to Patrick Mahomes, it was a horror season all around.

And if the Chiefs were looking for any extra motivation heading into the offseason, they just got it.

NFL.com's Eric Edholm has released his power rankings entering the 2026 season, and he has Kansas City all the way down at No. 19.

"With Patrick Mahomes already headlong into his rehab and the Chiefs angling for Travis Kelce to lace 'em up for one more season, the vibes appear to be slightly back on the upswing in Kansas City," Edholm writes.

Is No. 19 fair to Chiefs?

Considering they didn't make the playoffs and only won six games, being middle of the pack feels about right. Although some of Chiefs Kingdom won't like it.

But 2026 has the potential to be far better, with Mahomes hopefully back healthy, plus a top-10 pick to get a difference-maker with, the upswing, as Edholm calls it, might be coming sooner than some thought.

We really don't expect a team led by Mahomes to miss the playoffs in back-to-back seasons, do we?

Either way, 19th does feel a little low for the Chiefs, even if they are deserving, and this might be the little extra piece of motivation Kansas City can use when its offseason program begins.
