Recently, following the premiere of Physical: Asia, Netflix's reality competition series, fans and netizens have been anticipating the winner of the same, given the approaching finale on November 18. This is mostly also discussed with the backdrop of Australia and Turkey's participation in the series.

For those who are unaware, Physical: Asia stands as a spin-off of the original South Korean reality competition show, Physical: 100. With the spin-off, the series has expanded internationally, specifically bringing in a group of contestants from eight different countries.

Given that the title indicated that the countries involved in the competition are from Asia, many were confused about the participation of Australia and Turkey. Though Turkey isn't entirely from Asia, it shares a great majority of its geography with Asia, and the rest with Europe. Australia, on the other hand, is considered to be both a country and a continent; it is not part of Asia.

However, Australia is in close prozimity with Asia, with only 7,463 km between Australia and mainland Asia. Given that Australia is segregated from other parts of the world, the citizens are afforded minimal participation in international competitions. Therefore, Asia is the closest continent where the country can participate and compete, especially at sporting events.

While this was understood by the fans and viewers during the premiere of the show, with the finale right around the corner, many were not happy to see Team Australia and Team Turkey hold the leading positions in Physica: Asia. This has also led many to anticipate that one of these countries might win the competition.

Many argued that they would rather have an Asian country be named the winner, especially for an Asian-based show like Physical: Asia. Some also reasoned with the fact that including Western athletes with Asian athletes is unfair due to genetic differences. Therefore, many have been displeased with the inclusion of Team Australia and Team Turkey as part of Netflix's recent spin-off competition series.

Here are a few fan reactions regarding the same:

I hate how they have non-Asians in this Asian show! It’s genetically unfair! Obvs they’re turkey and Australia will be the final two. Why call it physical Asia if it’s not all Asian race ?

I’m not a fan of Turkey and Australia being a part of #Physical100 • I understand the reasoning (after looking it up) but they throw off the vibes.

Team #Australia and #Turkey being on #physicalasia is weird and not fair. East asians are built differently than westerners

Others also shared their thoughts and opinions about the same.

I love my Aus and Turkish moots but seeing Australia and Turkey in Physical : Asia really caught me off guard. I guess my brain assumed it was an Asian edition.

why tf are Australia and Turkey included in Physical Asia.. like you can make a very reaching case for Turkey but AUSTRALIA? man 🤦🏾‍♀️

I was confused when I saw those teams on physical ASIA 😂 Like I thought there were supposed to be only asian countries!?
