With the Summer transfer window looming, teams around Europe have started to make their offers to bring in talent and bolster their squads ahead of the upcoming campaign. This has been the case with Barcelona, who will be looking to defend their La Liga title, having lifted the coveted trophy after a 94-point conquest, finishing eight points above their historic rivals, Real Madrid.
It didn’t take long for Barcelona to make a move, as they have brought in Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon for a reported € 70 million, with the deal potentially going higher due to add-ons, as explained by ESPN’s Sam Marsden and Moises Llorens.
The move to Camp Nou comes after a four-season stay at St. James Park for Gordon, a time in which he would record 152 appearances, netting 39 goals and 21 assists. These numbers weren’t just recorded in the English topflight, as Gordon would make his Champions League debut with the Magpies, making 18 appearances in the continental competition, which is some experience that will certainly come in handy with Barcelona.
