Anthony Edwards drops nsfw reaction to Spurs defeat and it’s brutal

The San Antonio Spurs advanced to the Western Conference Finals after beating the Minnesota Timberwolves 139-109 in Game 6. They are now facing the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder.

In the series-clinching win in Minneapolis, Stephon Castle led San Antonio with 32 points and 11 rebounds, while De'Aaron Fox scored 21. For Minnesota, this marked the third consecutive year their season ended with an elimination loss.

Anthony Edwards finished the game with 24 points on 9-of-26 shooting. He averaged 23.7 points per game in the series. However, it was a serious dip from his 28.8 regular-season average.

With eight minutes remaining and the game out of reach, Edwards walked to the Spurs bench to shake hands and hug opposing players. Addressing the unusual timing after the game, Edwards explained that he knew he was done playing for the night. He later explained exactly what was going through his head, as he was in no mood to show sportsmanship after elimination.

Anthony Edwards reveals real reason he dapped up Spurs mid-blowout

In a video clip shared by Legion Hoops from Richard A. Jefferson's YouTube channel, Edwards spoke honestly about his decision. He admitted he originally did not want to congratulate them.

"I was just like, let me go and congratulate these boys, because I ain't trying to be kiki-ing with y'all after y'all done whooped my ass," Edwards said. "I didn't want to go dap them up at all. But then what would they have been saying about me? That's why I'm me and y'all are whoever y'all are."

A classic Edwards who is calculated, self-aware, and honest about the ego involved. He acknowledged San Antonio earned the win, adding separately, "I just tip my hat to them. They were just the better team."

Minnesota faces a tough offseason after their third consecutive early playoff exit ended in a blowout. Edwards is under contract through 2029 and will earn $52 million next season. According to KSTP-TV’s Darren Wolfson, the Timberwolves worry Edwards could eventually request a trade down the road, though he notes that scenario is a long way off.

Meanwhile, Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson reports that Edwards is quietly pushing the front office to trade for Kyrie Irving this summer. Minnesota enters the offseason knowing that the path to the Finals is increasingly difficult through a Western Conference dominated by Oklahoma City, San Antonio, and Luka Doncic’s Lakers.
