New information has come to light about Chef Anne Burrell’s death.
Months after the renowned chef’s Jun. 17 death was ruled a suicide, the New York Police Department confirmed to People that an investigator uncovered a “suicidal note” in the primary bedroom of Burrell’s Brooklyn, New York home. In the room, authorities also recovered, according to a police report viewed by the outlet, “suicidal” journal entries.
In the report, the NYPD said a redacted individual “married to Anne” observed that “the bed was made in their room which is not normal” on the morning of her death.
The Worst Cooks in America host—who married husband Stuart Claxton in 2021—was found on the bathroom floor “with a bunch of over the counter pills on the floor,” by the unnamed person, the report continued, who attempted to wake her by “shaking her and slapping her face” before calling 911.
Claxton told police that Anne had “never attempted suicide in the past” and “never talked about it.” He also explained, per the doc, that his wife didn’t show “any signs that she would do something like this.”
E! News has reached out to the NYPD for comment but has not heard back.
The heartbreaking details of the Food Network host’s death comes months after the New York City medical examiner's office ruled her death a suicide in July, specifying that her cause of death was due to "acute intoxication due to the combined effects of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine, and amphetamine.”
Following the death of the 55-year-old, her loved ones shared how her enduring legacy will live on.

Jun. 17. “Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.”
Meanwhile, Food Network also shared a tribute to Burrell following her passing.
“Anne was a remarkable person and culinary talent—teaching, competing and always sharing the importance of food in her life and the joy that a delicious meal can bring,” a network spokesperson said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with Anne’s family, friends and fans during this time of tremendous loss.”
