Angels' utility player could be on the move later this season

After splitting the 2025 season with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Kansas City Royals, Adam Frazier hit the free agent market over the winter. And while teams like the Seattle Mariners or Boston Red Sox were rumored, he signed a deal with the Los Angeles Angels

The two sides agreed to a one-year, $1.75 million contract for the 2026 season, and he has split his time between second base and left field so far this season.

Offensively, he's not doing badly, either. Through 17 games, he is hitting .263/.378/.395 with two doubles, one home run, and four runs batted in.

Angels' utility player could be on the move later this season

While the Angels have started the season well, it's going to take a lot for them to be seen as contenders this year. Mike Trout will have to stay healthy, and Jose Soriano will have to keep up the magic he is producing on the mound all season.

If they were to skip out of playoff contention before the deadline, some of these contenders could turn to Frazier. Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller tags him as a top trade candidate ahead of the deadline.

"As long as the bat is serviceable, there's a lot of value in adding a guy who can fill five or six different spots on the depth chart. Frazier's bat has been more than serviceable early on this season, entering play on Monday with the best batting average and second-best OPS among Angels hitters."

Outside of relievers, utility players are highly sought after ahead of the trade deadline. The value of adding a player who can fill multiple positions makes a manager's life much easier.

Don't be surprised if multiple teams come calling for Frazier as we get closer and closer to that August 3 date.
