Premier League teams relegated 2026: Which clubs are going down to EFL Championship for next season?

1 hour ago 5

For teams in the richest domestic football competition in the world, relegation from the Premier League is a catastrophic outcome that clubs look to avoid at all costs and expense.

Leicester City, Ipswich Town, and Southampton going down in 2024/25 meant all three promoted clubs were sent straight back down for a second consecutive season, leading fans to believe that it is harder than ever for smaller clubs to establish themselves in the highest division full of rich and powerful clubs.

The burden, therefore, was on Sunderland, Leeds United, and Burnley to break the trend and find a way to stay up. It appears at least one of them — Sunderland — has established a foothold, while the other two battle the drop.

The Sporting News takes a full look at the current relegation picture to review who will be sent down to the Championship next season.

Premier League teams relegated 2026: Who is going down?

Two teams have seen relegation mathematically confirmed, as Wolves and Burnley are headed down to the Championship once the 2025/26 season concludes.

The real race is for the final relegation place. West Ham occupied the third relegation spot at the start of March, but Tottenham have incredibly fallen into the lead for the drop.

It's likely this goes right to the wire. Nottingham Forest also have an outside chance to find themselves sucked into the vortex, while Leeds have seemingly done enough to avoid the mess at the bottom of the table.
