Andrew Wiggins trade update is disappointing news for Luka Doncic, Lakers

Andrew Wiggins has received interest from several organizations this trade season.

The athletic 6-foot-7 wing has the championship experience and skill set that contending franchises are looking for. The Los Angeles Lakers are a team that could use Wiggins’ services, but a recent trade report suggests a trade may not be in the cards for the Luka Doncic-led organization.

“Elsewhere in the Western Conference, the Lakers are now pressed for time to find a key wing upgrade before the trade deadline, now that Keon Ellis and De'Andre Hunter are off the table,” ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel wrote Monday. “Where do the Lakers go from here with all of their expiring salaries?”

“Despite continued interest in Andrew Wiggins, the (Miami) Heat don't appear to have interest in anything the Lakers have offered.”

Wiggins is among the best options left on the table for the Lakers. The former Golden State Warriors forward can create his own offense, play well off the ball, and knock down triples at an above-average rate. The Kansas product is averaging 15.6 points, 2.9 assists, and 4.9 rebounds per game with the Heat this season, shooting 46.8% from the field and 38.4% from three-point land.

Unfortunately, Siegel’s report indicates that the Lakers haven’t done their part to convince the Heat to partner with them this season, making it doubtful they land Wiggins by Thursday.
