Analyst reveals why Kenneth Walker not savior to Chiefs' problems

1 hour ago 2

When news broke that the Kansas City Chiefs signed Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker to a three-year deal, many thought the Chiefs' run game issues were fixed.

And to an extent, they are.

The move for Walker should revitalize the rushing attack and take a lot of pressure off Patrick Mahomes' shoulders in 2026.

But it appears that not everyone is sold on the move being one that will turn the Chiefs around next season.

CBS Sports' Carter Bahns notes that while the Walker signing is good, Kansas City's other issues mean it isn't all set in stone that a bounce-back is coming.

"Kansas City's ground attack will be better in 2026, but that may not be enough to ensure another 6-11 disaster is not around the corner," Bahns wrote. "The Chiefs just lost two cornerbacks in Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson, and their cap situation hardly allows them to plug star replacements into the pass defense.

"And fair questions still exist about the passing offense, which still lacks an alpha in the receiving unit, and will see how much juice it can squeeze out of a 36-year-old Travis Kelce."

Chiefs fix one problem, not all

Yes, the addition of Walker is great for the Chiefs' offense, as he gives them a big dose of production as both a runner and receiver.

But as Bahns writes, the Chiefs have lost key pieces on defense, and who knows what we will get from Travis Kelce in Year 14?

So, yes, the move for Walker was great, but it hardly covers up all of Kansas City's warts.

But at least it's a start, and now the franchise can likely look forward to the draft to fill other needs.
