New Baltimore Ravens head coach Jesse Minter isn't walking into a coaching job like most first-timers do.
There will be no honeymoon period or a soft landing if things go south -- he's coming to win a Super Bowl. Well, that's the expectation, at least, given Baltimore's roster as it stands. And that means Minter will be under pressure to produce from Day 1.
For a first-time head coach, that is a hard thing to do, but Minter has the weapons on both sides of the ball to challenge for the Super Bowl.
And for Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport, he has a realistic expectation of the Ravens under Minter in Year 1 to end with a 12-5 record.
“On paper, the Ravens have the best roster in the AFC North, led by a two-time MVP quarterback in Lamar Jackson," Davenport wrote. "But this is a team that is expected to do more than just make the postseason. The Ravens are expected to make a real run at Super Bowl LXI.
"The Ravens have an excellent chance of making the playoffs, but this team could win a dozen games, and Minter's first season will still be viewed as a failure if the Ravens bow out early in the playoffs.”

Minter in unfavorable position
Yes, it is great to come to a team with players like Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry, Mark Andrews, Kyle Hamilton, and Trey Hendrickson.
But what that does is put the pressure on Minter and his staff to win right away. The Ravens can't afford a slow start or, at worst, missing the playoffs.
Minter knows he is under pressure from Day 1, and that is an unenviable position to be in.
And a 12-5 record in Year 1, and it still be a failure? That is what is confronting Minter and his Ravens.
