Analyst reveals brutal reality awaiting Dolphins' Malik Willis

1 hour ago 3

New Miami Dolphins quarterback Malik Willis has taken advantage of free agency and become a highly sought-after commodity.

Now in the AFC East after spending time with the Green Bay Packers as Jordan Love's backup, he now gets the chance to run his own show.

The move for Willis has drawn mixed reactions, but the Dolphins have decided to pull everything back and start over.

As such, CBS Sports' Garrett Podell named Willis as a big winner and loser of free agency due to his previous work with Jeff Hafley, but then dropped a nasty reality for Willis and what he'll be playing with in 2026.

“If the season started today, the team's three starting wide receivers would be Jalen Tolbert, Tutu Atwell and Malik Washington,” Podell wrote.

Willis doesn't have much to work with

The offense, you could make the case, doesn't have much for Willis to work with.

As Podell mentioned, the receivers don't stand out, and yes, there is running back De'Von Achane, but that's it. It does make you wonder how this offense will score enough points to win games.

Yes, the draft will likely see some offensive players come to the aid of Willis, but again, that is banking on rookies hitting the ground running.

So, Willis got his starting opportunity in the league again, but this time, it appears he has a bare-bones offensive unit to work with.

And that is far from ideal.
