There are a number of reasons that Jasson Dominguez isn't starting the season with the New York Yankees.
But in reality, one thing stands out consistently that hurt Dominguez's cause, and it has nothing to do with his bat.
Dominguez is simply a bad outfielder.
The Yankees use him in left field when he's out there, and it's often pretty brutal.
Even last season when Dominguez was hitting well, he would get pulled late in games for defensive replacements.
And take a look at what happened in Spring Training on Sunday. Ouch:
I wonder why the Yankees don’t want to pencil this guy in as the LF.
Jasson simply has to improve defensively or he’s a DH in this league. Simple as that. pic.twitter.com/s1O49ruqHq

Dominguez will likely get a chance eventually, although it could take an injury to one of Cody Bellinger, Trent Grisham and Aaron Judge.
But he'll only have so much ceiling if he can't figure out how to comfortably catch fly balls.
That should be his biggest focus down at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. If he can improve out there, it can give Aaron Boone more confidence to use him.
If not, his future is in just a little bit more doubt.
