Amon-Ra St. Brown, Brian Branch didn't hold back on Ben Johnson after Lions top Bears

In what was his first game back in Detroit, Lions fans did not greet former offensive coordinator and Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson warmly.

Johnson was booed at first sight, and then fans started a "F*** Ben Johnson" chant after the Lions had put the game away in the 52-21 victory.

As was the case with Lions fans, Johnsons' decision to leave for a division rival was personal for safety Brian Branch, who admitted he felt betrayed by Johnson leaving for the Bears.

“Yeah, he could’ve went anywhere else, but he’s got to see us again,” Branch said after being asked to clarify if he felt betrayed, per Pride of Detroit.

“Very motivated,” he said of how the Lions felt about playing against their former coach. “We knew coming into this game that this is personal. Really, all these games are personal.

"But this one was just — we felt like we’ve been betrayed from staff to players. We love Ben. We still love Ben. He’s a great coach and he’s a great mastermind, but yeah, it was time to get after him,” Brand added.

Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, who went off on the Bears with 115 receiving yards and three touchdowns, said the team was a little extra fired up to face the former offensive coordinator.

"I think so, I think so," St. Brown admitted. "I think a lot, especially the offense, we were fired up. Ben, what he did for us, I mean we'll never take that for granted. He was a big part of what we did here.

"But just him being over there, we wanted to show that we can still — us as players, we can still make it happen. We've got a great group of guys, a great group of coaches. So, we wanted to go out there and put on a little show," he concluded.

It has been a roller coaster two weeks for the Lions, who looked awful in Week 1 before absolutely exploding in Week 2. And, Lions fans went from hating John Morton, Johnson's replacement, to loving him after a 50-point showing.

But there's still a long way to go before we can crown Morton a success.
