Manchester United star Amad Diallo praised teammate Ayden Haeaven's performance against Newcastle United with a two-word message on social media. The young defender put up a decent shift and was named Man of the Match as the Red Devils secured a 1-0 Boxing Day win over the Magpies on Friday, December 26.

Ruben Amorim's side returned to winning ways after their 2-1 loss to Aston Villa five days before. A first-half stunning strike from wing-back Patrick Dorgu (24') turned out to be the winner for a depleted Manchester United side.

The Manchester club played the match without captain Bruno Fernandes, who sustained a hamstring injury against Aston Villa. They were also without key first-team defenders, notably Harry Maguire, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui.

With his senior defenders sidelined, Amorim was forced to hand Heaven a starting berth against the Magpies. Partnering with Lisandro Martinez in the heart of defense, the 19-year-old produced a commendable performance, which saw him receive the Man of the Match award.

After the match, Hevaen took to Instagram to celebrate his side's win and show off his Man of the Match award. He captioned his post:

"What a game , what a team performance we have to build on this! Proud to get MOTM."

Taking to the comment section, his teammates showed their support, including Amad, who is currently away from the team on AFCON duty with Ivory Coast. The winger praised Heaven, writing:

"Prime Ayden," alongside some laughing emojis.

In 90 minutes on the pitch, Hevean recorded eight clearances, one tackle, one block, and completed 34/36 of his passes (via FotMob). The former Arsenal star was making only his sixth league appearance of the season and his seventh overall, in which he has contributed a goal.

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim hails team's spirit in win over Newcastle United

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim was pleased with his side's display against Newcastle United and lauded the team's spirit. He believes that the team will win more games if they maintain the level displayed against Eddie Howe's side.

"Really pleased, especially if you see the second half. We managed to defend sometimes with a back six and we suffered together. If we have always this spirit we are going to win so many games. I think it is something we need to feel. That we can win games with the spirit and togetherness, Amorim said (via ESPN).

An undermanned squad forced the Portuhuste manager to make some changes to his setup, as he lined up with a back four for the first time since taking over the reins at Old Trafford in November 2024.

The win over Newcastle saw Manchester United move into the top five in the league standings, tied on points (29) with fourth-placed Chelsea. They will next play rock-bottom Wolverhampton Wanderers in the league on Wednesday, December 30.
