Australia captain Alyssa Healy dropped a regulation chance to hand Jemimah Rodrigues a major reprieve during the 2025 Women's World Cup semi-final at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Friday, October 30. The right-handed batter was batting on 82, and was well-settled in a record partnership with Harmanpreet Kaur for the third wicket in the run chase.

Jemimah Rodrigues, coming in at No.3, had a major task to fulfill in India's attempt to scale a mammoth 339-run target for a spot in the final. She took the game on, and brought a tempo to the innings as the Women in Blue looked to gain some momentum and put some pressure on the opposition.

During the 33rd over of the innings, Harmanpreet Kaur took on Alana King off the very first delivery to score a boundary and rotated strike soon after. Jemimah Rodrigues attempted to play her favored sweep shot, but could only get a top edge. Both the bowler, and wicket-keeper ran in to claim the ball, which lobbed upwards, landing adjacent to the pitch.

Although Alana King gave up on the attempt, and backed away for the skipper to claim the catch without any confusion, Healy failed to collect the ball with the gloves, resulting in a spilled chance. Have a look at the crucial moment in the contest right here:

Alyssa Healy had dropped a tough chance during Rodrigues' batting early in the middle overs, when she was standing up to the stumps.

Ashleigh Gardner makes no mistake to clinch a stellar catch to break the Harmanpreet Kaur-Jemimah Rodrigues partnership

Although the Australian skipper made a mess of a sitter, the Women in Yellow showcased their high-quality fielding soon after as Ashleigh Gardner held onto a clutch catch while running in from the deep to dismiss Harmanpreet Kaur for 89 in the semi-final clash.

The defending champions were finally able to break the menacing partnership to claim their first wicket in the middle overs. At the time of writing, Deepti Sharma has joined Jemimah Rodrigues on the pitch, with the score reading 240-3 in the 38th over.
