Tyler Shough has been a revelation since he became the New Orleans Saints' starting quarterback. The rookie has led the Saints to four wins in his seven starts, including a win in the last three games. This has effectively made him the quarterback of the future for the franchise.

Alvin Kamara offered his honest view on Shough on Friday. In his appearance on “The Set with Terron Armstead” podcast, the Saints running back described what really impresses him about the quarterback, and it goes beyond his performance and output on the field.

“Tyler is a super mature dude,” Kamara said. “Where everybody is looking for the production on the field, I look at the intangible stuff. Like, Tyler's personality. It plays to his advantage, for as serious a job he has to come in and do.

“He's a rookie coming in. He's still got, like, ‘I don't take myself too serious’ vibe about him. Because you can kind of paralyze yourself by being so serious and being stiff. But Tyler has this way of kind of being playful, but still getting the work done and still commanding excellence from the people around him.”

Tyler Shough’s personality has helped him build superb chemistry with his teammates since becoming the starter. This season, Shough has thrown for 1,792 yards and seven touchdowns, completing 66.4% of his passes. He comes as a glitter of hope for the Saints in their rebuilding phase.

Analyst believes Tyler Shough would go first overall in 2025 re-draft

With two regular-season games to go in 2025, Todd McShay has re-drafted the 2025 NFL class on his podcast. In his version, two New Orleans Saints rookies crack the top four picks, while quarterback Tyler Shough, not Cam Ward, comes off the board first overall.

“Tell me why I'm wrong," McShay said on his The McShay Show with guest Steve Muench. "Tracking to potentially be Offensive Rookie of the Year. Measurables, mobility, 6-4 220, mobility, arm strength, off schedule, on schedule. “308 passing yards coming off that game against the Jets. Yes, it's the Jets, but he's been doing it for a minute now. He's won three straight, he's led that Saints team to which has a bunch of backups to backups to backups.”

Todd McShay believes the starting role is now Tyler Shough's to lose, despite Spencer Rattler showing some flashes of brilliance during his tenure as a starter, which ended with a 1-7 record. Kelvin Banks Jr., who was selected as the ninth pick in April, joins Shough in McShay's re-draft as the fourth pick.
