We know that the Kansas City Chiefs' backup quarterback position hasn't been the most glorified over the years, as Patrick Mahomes has been the ever-present as the starter.
But last season, Mahomes got himself injured, the first time he's gotten a serious one, and the Chiefs had Gardner Minshew and then Chris Oladokun.
Both failed to take their chance.
And now, the Chiefs have traded for New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields to be Patrick's backup.
For NFL.com's Nick Shook, he thinks we are about to see how Andy Reid's QB whisperer skills will be used.
“Fields offers the Chiefs an alternative that arrives with little risk and room for unexpected upside," Shook wrote. "We'll see if Reid proves to be the whisperer the former Buckeye needed to finally find some consistency in his play.”

Can Reid "fix" Fields?
You can make the case that Fields is now in the best environment he's ever been in during his time in the league.
With Reid, Eric Bieniemy, Travis Kelce, Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, and Kenneth Walker, Fields could learn a lot over the next couple of months.
If Mahomes does take a little longer in his recovery, Fields could get starting reps during the offseason, and that could see him improve drastically.
Is Reid still a QB whisperer?
We're about to find out.
