After making the AFC Championship game and getting so close to a Super Bowl last season, you would think the Denver Broncos would be all-in on improving their roster, right?
Getting that close, a couple of key additions, especially on offense, would see Denver be a top contender.
Instead, as the second week of free agency begins, Denver hasn't signed one outside free agent.
Yep, you read that right. Sean Payton and Co. have done nothing.
And CBS Sports' Garrett Podell has torched the Broncos' thought process behind what has been a bizarre offseason for the AFC West franchise.
"The Denver Broncos are the only team in the NFL that have yet to sign an external free agent," Podell wrote. "That's an absurd level of arrogance. Yes, the Broncos were nearly the champions of the AFC, but they don't have the offensive firepower as of yet to break through to the Super Bowl.
"The decision to essentially eschew free agency entirely while still having quarterback Bo Nix on his rookie deal reeks of hubris and lunacy. The only reason the Broncos don't have an F grade is because they avoided creating too many holes by retaining a good chunk of talent."

Broncos wasting golden chance
We know that when a quarterback is on his rookie deal, that is the time to strike.
Having gotten so close to a Super Bowl with Nix, surely Denver has the resources to make a couple of key offensive additions, right?
Well, instead, it appears they are going to run it back with the same players, in the hope they can go one better than last season. All the while, other teams are improving.
Will this method come back to bite Denver? You can easily see that happening.
Of course, things could change in the coming weeks, but no outside free agent being signed is certainly an odd choice for a team that got so close to a Super Bowl last season.
