After Serena Williams & Venus Williams get criticized for marrying White men, Rennae Stubbs delivers brutal reply

Tennis legends Serena Williams and Venus Williams were recently criticized for marrying White men. Reacting to this, Rennae Stubbs delivered a brutal response to those commenting on the Williams' sisters’ lives.

Serena Williams and Venus Williams are undoubtedly two of the biggest tennis stars in the world. In 2017, the former married Alexis Ohanian, best known as the co-founder of Reddit. Meanwhile, the latter tied the knot with Italian actor and model Andrea Preti earlier this month.

Days after Venus Williams' wedding, a fan on Threads criticised the Williams' sisters' choice in men, writing,

“What a coincidence that these sisters, raised in Compton, CA, both married non-black men. I’m sure their father is proud 🥹.”

Responding to this, Rennae Stubbs shut down the criticism with a brutal response, writing,

“Imagine being so fragile with your own self you're worrying about what two beautiful successful women are doing in theirs.”

Venus Williams first met Andrea Preti in 2024, at the Milan Fashion Week. The duo were later spotted boating on the Amalfi Coast and fans quickly began to speculate that they were dating. The couple went public with their relationship a few months later and announced that they were engaged in July 2025.

In September 2025, Williams got married to Preti in a small ceremony in Italy. The duo then tied the knot in Florida earlier this month. After the wedding, Serena Williams shared snaps from the occasion and penned a heartfelt note for her sister, writing,

“My sister's keeper. Venus, where do I even begin? From the backyard courts to the biggest stages in the world, you've always led with grace, strength, and a heart bigger than any trophy. Watching you step into this next chapter surrounded by love felt like watching the sun rise... steady, powerful, and full of promise.” “You've been my built-in best friend, my protector, my teacher, and my reminder to always walk in purpose. Seeing you this happy, this loved, this radiant... it means everything to me. To love, to partnership, to laughter, and to a lifetime of choosing each other every single day. I couldn't be prouder to stand beside you, not just today, but always,” she added.

Serena Williams and Venus Williams are largely considered to be two of the greatest women's singles players of all-time, having won 30 Grand Slam trophies between the two of them. The sisters were also an incredible doubles pair, winning 14 Major titles together.
