Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan has shared his thoughts on Liverpool star Mohamed Salah's form and future. He dismissed claims of any 'crisis' and claimed that the winger gets his form back whenever he features for his national side.

There has been speculation about Salah's future despite him signing a new contract last season. His form has dipped this season, and he also gave an explosive interview last month, slamming the club and head coach Arne Slot. This has led to rumors of a potential move in the January transfer window for him.

Salah is currently with Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). When asked about the Liverpool superstar, Hossam Hassan replied (h/t Mirror):

"Whenever Salah's performances dip with his club, he regains his strength with the national team and becomes even better, whether by contributing goals or scoring himself. Then he returns to his club even stronger." "Salah's morale in training is very high, as if he were just starting out with the national team, and I believe he will have a great tournament with his country I feel his motivation is very, very strong. Salah is an icon and will remain so. He is one of the best players in the world, and I support him in everything he does," he added.

Hassan added that they have been in contact with the Liverpool winger and he's focused on AFCON, saying:

"I don't consider what happened to him to be a crisis. These things often happen between players and coaches. We've been in contact with him by phone from the beginning, and I met with him when he joined the national team camp. His focus is entirely on the tournament."

Egypt will begin their AFCON 2025-26 campaign against Zimbabwe on Monday, December 22.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher slammed Mohamed Salah's record with Egypt after explosive interview

In his interview, Mohamed Salah also name-dropped Jamie Carragher as one of his critics. The former Liverpool defender then slammed the winger, even questioning his career before joining the Reds. He also highlighted that Salah hasn't won the AFCON trophy with Egypt, saying:

"One thing I just want to sort of remind Mo Salah and maybe his agent is that before he came to Liverpool, Mo Salah was known as the guy who failed at Chelsea. "That's just a fact. He'd never won a major trophy before he came to Liverpool. He's also the greatest player his country have ever had. Egypt, in the Africa Cup of Nations, are the most successful nation. He's going there in a couple of weeks. Mo Salah's never won the AFCON."

Salah has made 107 appearances for Egypt, scoring 61 goals and providing 34 assists. He has helped them reach the AFCON final twice, but they lost on both occasions.
