“I knew I could beat him” - Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu says he had all the tools to dethrone Fabricio Andrade

Reigning and undisputed ONE bantamweight MMA world champion ‘The Tormentor’ Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu of Mongolia had supreme belief in his abilities heading into his showdown with ‘Wonder Boy’ Fabricio Andrade of Brazil at ONE Fight Night 38: Andrade vs. Baatarkhuu on Prime Video.

That night, ‘The Tormentor’ used the full scale of his combat skills, particularly his grappling, to take care of business against the former divisional king. Baatarkhuu ended up beating Andrade via fourth-round submission and winning his first ONE world title.

Speaking to veteran ONE Championship reporter Nick Atkin after the fight, Baatarkhuu gave credit to ‘Wonder Boy’ after their grueling barnburner.

‘The Tormentor’ stated:

“For Fabricio, you know, he’s still young. But his striking is so fast, and that is why I got some damage on my eyebrows and all. Before the fight – a few months before the fight, there were rumors that I may face Fabricio. And starting from that time, I knew I could beat him.”

Baatarkhuu added:

“Comparing myself against him, experience-wise, I knew I had what it takes to beat him. I’m glad my experience and my plan helped me claim the title.”

‘The Tormentor’ Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu gave credit to his coach, legendary former world champion Narantungalag Jadambaa, who helped guide him throughout his career.

Jadambaa is the former ONE featherweight MMA king. Baatarkhuu said:

“I really want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to my coach, legendary Narantungalag Jadambaa. He became a world champion 11 years ago. Today, I became a champion. It's a lot to ask.”
