AEW has been doing an incredible job in keeping its product fresh and fine. However, in the world of professional wrestling, plans often get nixed to pivot to bigger and better things. Recently, a star revealed such plans where he was supposed to win a championship, but Tony Khan did not pull the trigger.
Ortiz was supposed to become the AEW World Tag Team Champion with his former partner Santana. Their tag team, 'Proud & Powerful,' was active in All Elite Wrestling from 2019 to 2024. During their tenure in the company, they delivered incredible performances in their matches, becoming a popular name in the tag division. However, despite being together for five years, they never became tag champions in AEW.
Speaking on Wombreezy, Ortiz revealed that Proud & Powerful were almost locked to become the AEW World Tag Team Champions. However, due to some unfortunate circumstances, the company nixed those plans and went with some other directions for their future.
“It was supposed to happen a couple of times but due to certain circumstances, it just didn’t happen. Some out of our control. Especially the first time, fate took it another way. Honestly that’s a true story, there was plans to put the titles on us... but it just didn’t work out that way.” he saidDid The Rock's "Final Boss" run hurt WWE? Watch Here!
