Adam Pearce announced Gunther's return to WWE RAW

Gunther has been gone from WWE for a long time now. Ever since SummerSlam, the star was gone, with reports that he had a nose injury that needed work, as a result of which he had to stay out of the ring. There were continuous rumors that he'd be returning but it was never confirmed. Now, that has changed.

Heading into December, the conversation has been all about who John Cena will face finally before he retires and ends his career once and for all. A tournament has been announced with top stars all getting a chance to prove themselves as the star who can face him. With him holding the Intercontinental title, the prospect of facing him is even more interesting than usual as a result.

On RAW tonight, Adam Pearce announced that Gunther was finally returning and he was doing so to face Je'Von Evans on next week's episode of RAW on MSG. Both stars have been selected as competitors in the first round of the tournament, and depending on what happens, there will be a new champion crowned.

Gunther has been a favorite to face John Cena as his last-ever opponent

While nothing is fixed at this point, Gunther has been one of the names who has been the favorite to face Cena at his last-ever match.

The star has been dominant, and it has been thought that the 17-time champ putting the Ring General over on his exit from the company would be beneficial for everyone concerned and help out the star more than anything else.

It remains to be seen if that ends up happening, but now he is finally returning, so it might be far from out of the question after Adam Pearce's announcement.
