Aaron Glenn has contentious exchange with Jets media over ESPN's Garrett Wilson injury update

1 hour ago 2

New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn had no interest in providing an injury update on wide receiver Garrett Wilson on Tuesday.

Wilson returned from a two-game absence due to a knee injury in Week 10, but he has since reaggravated the injury, which forced his early exit from the win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

According to ESPN's Rich Cimini, Wilson is expected to miss three to four weeks with what was diagnosed as a knee sprain.

Glenn normally likes to keep things close to the vest, so Cimini's report did not sit well with him — and so much so that he declined to offer an update on Wilson on Tuesday, which led to a bit of contentious back-and-forth with the media.

"I'm going to pass on talking about injuries since Rich — he's not here — has all the answers, so you guys can get all the injuries from Rich," Glenn told reporters.

When asked if Wilson was a candidate for injured reserve, Glenn didn't budge.

"Ask Rich... well, I'm telling you to ask Rich," Glenn responded.

That simply wasn't good enough for the media, with one reporter saying they wanted to hear it straight from Glenn. That did not change Glenn's response, though.

"You guys have been hearing it from me, but now since we are just reporting stuff that I haven't said, then maybe you should ask him," Glenn said, before walking off.

OK, fine, we'll just call Rich.

While Glenn won't provide any information, we can assume that Wilson is going to miss time with his knee injury based on Cimini's report.

That's bad news for the Jets, who are very short-handed at wide receiver thanks to Josh Reynolds being on injured reserve and Allen Lazard being a healthy scratch last week.

If Lazard doesn't play in Week 11, the Jets will have to lean heavily on rookie Arian Smith, and quite possible Adonai Mitchell, who was acquired in the Sauce Gardner trade. Mitchell did not make his debut in Week 10 and was a healthy scratch.
