There's a parable of a Chinese farmer. It goes like this:

A farmer loses his only horse. The neighbors say it's terrible luck. The farmer says, “maybe.”

The horse returns with several wild horses. The neighbors say it's a great luck. The farmer says, “maybe.”

The farmer's son breaks his leg trying to ride one of the wild horses. The neighbors say it's bad luck. The farmer replies, “maybe.”

A war begins and all healthy young men are drafted, but not the farmer's son because of his broken leg. The neighbors say it's good luck, the farmer still says, “maybe.”

There's no use pointing out a conclusion to something in a moment. Life works in waves, in cycles. You never know if something is ultimately good or bad until time tells you.
