A Hamptons estate owned by the late music-industry giant who signed Madonna asks $15M for sale

Red Top Farm, a Hamptons estate owned by the late music mogul Seymour Stein — who signed Madonna — has hit the market for $15 million, Gimme Shelter has learned.

Stein, the Brooklyn-born co-founder of Sire Records, helped create the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and put musical genres like punk and New Wave on the map. He also signed the Ramones, the Talking Heads and the Pretenders, among many more top bands.

He died in 2023 at age 80, of cancer. 

The historic two-and-a-half story red clapboard farmhouse is at 348 Wickapogue Road near Southampton Village. Built around 1895 as part of a working farm, it was renovated in 1997 by Southampton Architect John David Rose, and sits on 2.9 acres.

“This home carries the pedigree of Seymour Stein — a visionary whose legacy shaped modern music and culture,” said listing broker Michael Schultz, of Bespoke Real estate.

Stein’s ex-wife, the late punk pioneer Linda Stein, managed the Ramones before morphing into one of the city’s top real estate power brokers for Madonna, Sting and Billy Joel — as well as Steven Spielberg, Angelina Jolie, Calvin Klein, Donna Karan and Michael Douglas. In 2007, Linda was murdered in her home at 965 Fifth Ave. by her assistant. 

The 10-bedroom main house comes with seven baths and two powder rooms. At 8,720 square feet, it features an eat-in chef’s kitchen and multiple woodburning fireplaces — including in the living and dining rooms, and the bedrooms. There’s also room for a home office.

Design details include vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors, custom millwork, French doors and pendant lights. Outside, there’s a picket fence and privet hedges.

There’s also a 1,456-square-foot, three-bedroom, two-bath guest house. A detached garage also comes with a 1,306-square-foot, three bedroom apartment. 

The landscaped lawns come with specimen trees. There’s also a pool, paddock and “equestrian amenities,” according to the listing.
