The NASCAR community came together in grief and solidarity following the devastating tragedy involving legendary driver Greg Biffle and his family, as tributes and messages of support poured in from across the sport. Among the most emotional was a message shared by Denny Hamlin’s fiancée, Jordan Fish, to express her sorrow and to honor a personal connection with Biffle’s family.
Retired NASCAR legend Greg Biffle and his family, including wife Cristina, daughter Emma, and son Ryder, were killed in an airplane crash on Thursday (December 18) at Statesville Regional Airport in Statesville. Pilot Dennis Dutton, his son Jack Dutton, and friend Craig Wadsworth were others who were also killed in the crash.
Taking to X, Denny Hamlin’s fiancée, Jordan Fish, expressed the profound shock felt by her, focusing specifically on the bond between her daughter’s and Biffle’s daughter, Emma.
“My heart aches for the entire Biffle family and victims involved. My heart is especially heavy for Greg and Nicole’s daughter, Emma, who was a friend to both my girls. Emma had the biggest heart, and would always stop and give me a hug. Our hearts are with them. 🕊️🙏🏼❤️” Fish wrote on X.Joe Gibbs Racing driver Hamlin and Fish share two daughters, Taylor and Molly.
On an overcast and misty morning, the plane that crashed was a private jet, a Cessna 550 Citation, owned by GB Aviation, a company owned by Greg Biffle.
According to Brad Panovich, the Chief Meteorologist at WCNC, the Cessna 550 Citation took off from the airport shortly after 10 a.m. and immediately turned around and crashed while attempting to land around 10:15 AM ET.

Three-time Daytona 500 winner and Joe Gibbs Racing veteran Denny Hamlin was among those who were devastated by Biffle's untimely demise. It was a sad day for NASCAR and sport.
Taking to X, Hamlin reacts to the tragic death of Biffle and his family, writing:
“Today the motorsports world lost one of its fiercest competitors and kindest souls. Greg Biffle was a champion on the track and a humanitarian off it, whose impact reached far beyond racing.
