John Cena's Last Time is Now Tournament is in full swing, with Sheamus, Jey Uso, LA Knight, Gunther, and Solo Sikoa advancing to the next round. And now, an eight-time WWE champion might leave his current company and enter the tournament.

Cesaro (aka Claudio Castagnoli) is the name in question. His last televised match in the Stamford-based promotion was on February 11, 2022, on SmackDown, where he was defeated by Happy Corbin. After that, he quietly left the company when his contract expired on February 24 of that same year. Reports indicated that the 44-year-old was not actively seeking to leave WWE, but was dissatisfied with the contract extension offer he received.

After he departed from the Stamford-based promotion, Cesaro performed for other wrestling promotions such as Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and is currently featured in All Elite Wrestling. That said, given that the eight-time WWE champion was also name-dropped by John Cena for his Last Time is Now Tournament, he might pull off a massive return to WWE and participate in an ongoing contest.

If this is confirmed, the creative team might decide to pull the trigger on the dramatic twist. It could be an old gimmick, where Penta gets taken out backstage by a mysterious attacker before his match against Finn Balor on tonight's episode of SmackDown. Cesaro would then take his place in the first round of the Tournament and beat Balor.

However, while this is far-fetched, it's not impossible. Fans will have to wait and see if this comes to fruition.

John Cena could lose the Intercontinental Championship at Survivor Series

John Cena made history in his penultimate appearance on RAW by winning his first International Championship, defeating Dominik Mysterio. He is now set to run it back with the younger Mysterio at Survivor Series with the title on the line.

With just two appearances left for The Franchise Player as an active wrestler, many believe that he's likely to drop the IC Title back to Dominick. Considering John Cena's decorated career, he clearly doesn't need a title around his waist to have a spectacular retirement match.

Furthermore, the Cenation Leader capturing the Intercontinental Title is likely a storyline to have him retire as a Grand Slam Champion. Now that this goal has been achieved, the creative team might book him to lose to Dominik Mysterio in San Diego.

That said, this angle is speculative, and viewers will have to wait and see who finally secures the victory at Survivor Series.
