The year 2025 has been a mixed bag for WWE in terms of booking and fan perception. The Triple H-led creative team has faced criticism for executing several questionable creative decisions.

One of the biggest criticisms this year has been incoherent storylines. Many angles had a promising start, but didn't see a proper conclusion. In this listicle, we will look at six such angles that didn't have a satisfactory ending.

#6. The Judgment Day's power struggle in WWE

Tensions have been brewing within The Judgment Day since its inception. However, it seemed like this year would finally mark the long-awaited implosion of the group. There was an evident power struggle between Finn Balor and Liv Morgan, which translated into friction between Balor and Dominik Mysterio after Morgan was sidelined with a shoulder injury.

Mysterio had even pinned the Irish star in the Fatal Four Way Match at WrestleMania 41 to win the Intercontinental Championship. Fans kept waiting for tensions to boil over, but the year is about to end, and it has yet to happen. After multiple teases of a breakup, Balor is seemingly back to being on good terms with LivDom.

#5. Ron Killings

On June 1, R-Truth shockingly revealed that his WWE contract was not being renewed, causing a massive uproar among fans. A "We Want Truth" movement was started to bring the veteran back to the Stamford-based promotion.

The company had no choice but to bring R-Truth back a week later. He returned during the main event match at Money in the Bank between John Cena/Logan Paul and Cody Rhodes/Jey Uso, attacking The Last Real Champion.

Upon his return, Truth ditched his comedic character and adopted a serious persona, even cutting his hair off and referring to himself by his real name: Ron Killings. However, this new character didn't last long, and Truth was abruptly back to portraying his old comedy character.

#4. Bayley's split personality

After suffering numerous setbacks earlier this year, Bayley started appearing in cryptic vignettes, in which she was seen struggling between her previous 'Hugger' persona and a darker character. The Role Model officially debuted her split personality character on RAW, which had fans intrigued.

Bayley randomly flipped back and forth between both personalities for weeks until the character was subtly dropped. The former WWE Women's Champion is currently in a tag team with Lyra Valkyria, who reminds the 36-year-old from time to time of who she is by slapping her. The character that was initially teased led to nothing.

#3. Jacob Fatu's mystery attacker

Jacob Fatu had set his sights on the Undisputed WWE Championship. The Samoan Werewolf was slated to face Drew McIntyre in a number one contender's match on the October 17 episode of SmackDown. However, before the bout, Fatu was mysteriously attacked backstage and was unable to compete.

The blame fell on The Scottish Warrior, who denied any involvement. Jacob Fatu has been off television since the attack, as he is reportedly dealing with a legitimate injury. The identity of his mystery attacker is still unknown, and the storyline will likely progress next year once the Samoan star makes his return.

#2. John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar returned to WWE in the closing moments of SummerSlam night two, taking out John Cena with an F-5. The two squared off in a singles match at Wrestlepalooza, where Lesnar unceremoniously squashed Cena.

Given the one-sided nature of the bout, fans expected that The Cenation Leader would redeem himself later. However, the storyline ended with the match at the Indianapolis event, and there was no satisfactory conclusion.

#1. John Cena's heel turn

John Cena sent shockwaves throughout the wrestling world by turning heel and aligning with The Rock at WWE Elimination Chamber: Toronto. Fans were excited to see Cena finally embrace his dark side after so many years.

However, The Final Boss never made an appearance after Cena's heel turn, and the 17-time World Champion had to carry out the storyline on his own. After an underwhelming run as a villain, The Franchise Player abruptly reverted to a babyface before SummerSlam.
