Team India keeper-batter Rishabh Pant's quip behind the stumps went viral on Day 1 of the first unofficial Test between India A and South Africa A at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground in Bengaluru. With left-arm spinner Manav Suthar bowling, the youngster was heard giving words of encouragement to him, telling him to keep bowling six deliveries in the same zone.
The Uttarakhand-born cricketer marked his return to competitive cricket in the A series against South Africa, captaining the hosts. It is the 28-year-old's first competitive game since recovering from the gruesome toe injury during the fourth Test against England in Manchester. He also missed the two-Test rubber against the West Indies in October.
In a video shared by Star Sports on October 30, the left-handed batter was heard saying:
"Zyaada fielder nahin hai outside mein. Dalta reh apna koi nahin. Thodi der dande pe daalo koi problem nahin. Maarne do. Tang mat do. Relax hoke daal. Shabaash. Rhythm pakadne ko dekho. Aa jaayega ek aad over mein. Pareshan mat ho." (There are not much fielders on the outside. Keep bowling your deliveries. Keep targetting the stumps for a bit, no problem. Let them hit. Relax and bowl. Focus on getting your rhythm. It will come in an over. Don't worry.)After Suthar bowled a delivery that a South African batter defended on the frontfoot, Pant quipped:
"Arre bhai. Yahi hai. 6 ball daalke dekho zara. Maza aayega. (Keep bowling six deliveries in that zone. It will be fun.)Earlier, Pant had won the toss and sent the tourists into bat in Bengaluru.

But Hamza was unsuccessful as the ball took the glove through to the keeper and he had to walk back for 66. It ended a 132-run stand with Hermann.
At the time of writing this, South Africa A were 177/3, with their captain Marques Ackerman perishing for 18 as Tanush Kotian claimed the wicket. Anshul Kamboj had snared the first scalp, getting the better of Lesego Senokwane for a duck in the fourth over.
