3 most impressive Vancouver Canucks players from win over Tampa Bay Lightning
#3 Elias Pettersson
The Vancouver Canucks top-line center had a much-needed strong offensive game. He notched two assists in nearly 20 minutes of ice across 24 shifts. While he only got one shot on goal, Pettersson created plenty of scoring opportunities on the power play.
Here’s a look at a fantastic play by Pettersson as shown on the Canucks’ X account:
Pettersson took a great pass from Quinn Hughes, made a nifty play, and fired a shot that Jake DeBrusk tapped in for the Canucks’ first goal of the game.
#2 Kevin Lankinen
Kevin Lankinen continues to be a tremendous piece for the Vancouver Canucks. Lankinen has taken over the crease for Vancouver following another Thatcher Demko injury. And Lankinen did not disappoint on Sunday night.
The Finnish netminder stopped 28 of 30 shots. In particular, Lankinen’s performance was crucial as he kept the Canucks in the game when the score was 2-0. He bought his team enough time to get back into the game and wrestle the lead back.
The Canucks were outshot 30-18, but it was Lankinen’s performance that made a huge difference.
#1 Quinn Hughes
The Canucks captain had a four-point night. He notched four assists on the night. But one in particular stood out.
Here’s a look:
Quinn Hughes made a sick play, pulling the puck and firing the point shot amid pressure from the Lightning defense. Drew O’Connor tipped the shot, making the game 4-2. The Lightning would have a goal waived off due to a high stick, paving the way for the Canucks to run away with the game.
The Canucks will be looking to continue building momentum as they face the Florida Panthers on Monday night at the Amerant Bank Arena.
