5 Mistakes WWE has already made with Survivor Series: WarGames

Survivor Series: WarGames is WWE's last big PLE of 2025. There's still Saturday Night's Main Event on December 13th that will host John Cena's final match. However, it's a special program and not an official PLE.

For that reason, whatever happens at the event in San Diego needs to wrap up some things and set up the start of 2026 and the Royal Rumble. Four matches have already been announced, including the two WarGames contests.

Nikki Bella laid out a challenge to Stephanie Vaquer for the Women's World Championship. With less than two weeks to go, WWE has already made the next five mistakes with Survivor Series: WarGames.

#5. The Intercontinental Championship issue

John Cena shockingly won the Intercontinental title on RAW from Boston, completing his Grand Slam status. The win took the title away from Dominik Mysterio, but the two agreed to a rematch for WarGames in San Diego.

The issue is a lose-lose. If Cena wins, whoever he faces at Saturday Night's Main Event likely becomes the new titleholder, unless he relinquishes it. If it's Gunther, he's already the longest-reigning such titleholder in history.

The rematch is taking place in San Diego since Dirty Dom hails from the area code. The other problem is that if Dominik regains the title, it sets things back to how they were before he lost to Cena.

He cheated Rusev, AJ Styles, Penta, and many others as champion since WrestleMania 41. It was past time for someone else to wear the belt, and Cena's victory muddled things up.

#4. Announcing both matches on last week's RAW

Instead of spacing out the actual announcements for both WarGames matches, bookers made both contests official on last week's RAW. Punk, Jey Uso, and Cody Rhodes wanted a crack at the Vision. Adam Pearce agreed to their request.

The women's match solidified in the main event, when Nia Jax and Lash Legend cost Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair the WWE Women's Tag Team titles against the Kabuki Warriors.

All four beat up The Queen and Bliss, but were saved by the returning Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY. Had one of SKY and Ripley returned, the announcement could have been made at the huge RAW from Madison Square Garden after the other came back.

#3. Involving Logan Paul at WarGames

Logan Paul turned face and then heel hours later last week, pledging his allegiance to Paul Heyman and the Vision for WarGames. He initially wanted an undeserved shot at CM Punk and the World Heavyweight title.

Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed told him the line started behind them. The Maverick turned tail and joined Heyman's group. The problem is he isn't joining the Vision long-term and will probably take off until the Royal Rumble.

He may even get that title shot he was angling for, since that is all he does. That spot could have gone to a star that needs it, like Austin Theory, Aleister Black, or an NXT star like Tony D'Angelo or Oba Femi.

#2. The forgotten member of the OG Bloodline

Jimmy Uso was always treated as the least important member of the OG Bloodline, and it's still happening. Despite acting as the family's conscience lately, he's been sort of an afterthought.

Roman Reigns ignores him and only seems to worry about Jey's well-being. Jimmy's importance was understated yet again as he simply said he wanted to join Team Punk for WarGames in a quick backstage segment on SmackDown.

Drew McIntyre got more of a spectacle on SmackDown, as did Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns on RAW.

#1. Leaving the one traditional Survivor Series match off the card

Seth Rollins' injury forced bookers to pivot to a different potential WarGames match this year. What was clearly heading toward a clash between the Vision and Team Punk turned into a pairing of the MFTs and a team led by Sami Zayn.

Since they were able to get all the involved parties for the original match except for The Visionary, they went ahead with the original plan.

This led the feud between the MFTs and Team Zayn to play out on the SmackDown ahead of WarGames. Not having a traditional elimination match on which the PLE was built is a huge mistake.
