The Auburn Tigers dismissed Hugh Freeze after a 4-5 start to the 2025 season. Freeze was the latest high-profile coach to get fired in what's been a season full of dismissals.
So, with Week 11 around the corner, let's look at five coaches who could potentially be in the job market next.

Five CFB coaches next in line to get fired after Hugh Freeze's dismissal
5. Tim Beck, Coastal Carolina
Tim Beck has been the head coach of the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers since 2023. Beck led the team to an 8-5 record in his first season but slipped to a 6-7 record in the second.
The experienced coach needs to secure bowl game eligibility this season to improve his security. A loss of two more this season could see him rise on this list and potentially join Hugh Freeze.
4. Dave Aranda, Baylor
Dave Aranda's tenure with the Baylor Bears has been a rollercoaster. Aranda has a 36-34 overall record with the Bears, and he's led the team to a 5-4 record in the current campaign.
However, college football analyst Greg McElroy has put Aranda on the shortlist of coaches who are firmly on the hot seat and could receive their pink slips in the near future.
There's hardly smoke without fire, and the Baylor front office is likely watching Aranda for the rest of the season. Anything less than a dominant end to the 2025 season might spell the end of Aranda's tenure.
3. Frank Reich, Stanford
Frank Reich might only be the interim head coach for the Stanford Cardinal, but that doesn't make him immune to getting fired. The veteran head coach has led his troops to a 3-6 record so far this season.
Stanford has games against North Carolina, California, and Notre Dame left this season. Reich will look to post wins in these matchups and potentially leave on his own terms.
2. Brent Venables, Oklahoma
Brent Venables has been the head coach of the Oklahoma Sooners since 2021, but he's yet to gain broad acceptance from the team's fan base. Venables has led the team to a 7-2 record this season, and they are in the playoff hunt.
Venables needs to post impressive results from now until the end of the season to secure a postseason spot. He has games against Alabama, Missouri, and LSU. So, the pressure is on Brent Venables entering Week 11.
1. Mike Locksley, Maryland
An X (formerly Twitter) account reported Maryland fired Mike Locksley after a less-than-ideal start to the 2025 season. The school has since denied the rumors, but there's an element of inevitability surrounding Locksley's job.
The long-term head coach is on a four-game losing streak. That, coupled with last year's 4-8 record, makes him a prime candidate for a pink slip.
Mike Locksley and Maryland's next game is against Rutgers. A win in the game could help his case, but a loss would renew calls for dismissal.
