India clinched a historic five-wicket win over Australia in the Women's World Cup 2025 semifinal at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai, on Thursday, October 30. Australia won the toss and chose to bat first in the knockout fixture.
The side posted a mammoth 338-run total, thanks to opener Phoebe Litchfield's stunning 119-run knock from 83 balls. Ellyse Perry (77 runs off 88 balls) and Ashleigh Gardner (63 runs off 45 balls) notched up half-centuries, helping their team register a big score.
Shree Charani and Deepti Sharma claimed two wickets each. The home team came up with a sensational effort in the run chase, overhauling the target in 48.3 overs.
Jemimah Rodrigues stole the show with her batting exploits, remaining unbeaten on 127 off 134 balls. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur also played a key role in the victory, contributing 89 runs from 88 deliveries.
Kim Garth and Annabel Sutherland took two scalps apiece. Notably, India registered the highest-ever run chase in Women's ODI cricket history.

Popular actress Kareena Kapoor Khan was overjoyed with the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side's performance. She praised the side for showing great determination in the do-or-die game.
