Over the years, countless mods have been created for Minecraft Java Edition. Some mods simply optimize and increase performance, while others add loads of features that completely change the core experience of the game itself. Like so, there is also a genre of mods that tries to add new features but retains the vanilla look and feel of the game.
These mods are often termed as vanilla plus mods. Here is a list of some great vanilla plus mods for Minecraft.

5 great vanilla plus mods for Minecraft
1) Quark
Quark mod is equal to a full-fledged vanilla plus modpack (Image via Mojang Studios || Quark/Vazkii)Quark is a Minecraft mod that adds various small, vanilla-style features. Each of them can be enabled, disabled, and configured individually through Mod Menu. It adds new building and utility blocks. The mod also adds lightweight automation and redstone-friendly gadgets, and introduces optional tweaks to world generation and structures. All these features make exploration feel richer without changing the game’s identity.
Quark also bundles quality-of-life improvements related to inventory handling, crafting, UI, and common interactions to streamline existing mechanics rather than overhaul them.
2) Farmer's Delight
Farmer's Delight adds new crop-growing features, among others (Image via Mojang Studios || CurseForge/vectorwing)Farmer's Delight is arguably one of the most popular farming mods to download for Minecraft. It expands the farming and cooking experience in the game and introduces loads of new crops like cabbage, tomatoes, and onions. Players can make all kinds of different dishes like burgers, sandwiches, sushi, ice cream, pastries, and rice bowls with the help of these new crops.
Though it adds loads of new in-game features, Farmer's Delight continues to keep things vanilla, since it does not change the game's core mechanics or progression. As of now, it has over 85,000,000 downloads from the CurseForge website alone, proving how popular it is in the community.
3) Supplementaries
Supplementaries add various functions and decorative blocks. (Image via Mojang Studios || CurseForge/MehVahdJukaar)Supplementaries is similar to Quark mod, since it adds loads of new blocks, both decorative and functional. It is a vanilla plus mod since its features do not fundamentally change the game. It adds blocks like a hour glass, jars, various book blocks, a globe, new lanterns, fences, item frames, candle stands, hanging ropes, a modern clock, and much more.
If players want to further decorate their base with both decorative and functional blocks, Supplementaries is the best mod for it.
4) Easy Villagers
Easy villager is a great mod that makes managing villagers simpler (Image via Sportskeeda Gaming || Mojang Studios)Most players are aware of how difficult it can be to transport villagers from one place to another. They can either be trapped in a boat or be lured by a job site repeatedly. Thankfully, there is a mod called Easy Villagers that solves this issue.
Easy Villagers adds various blocks in which villagers can be stored as miniatures. The block can then be mined and kept in a player's inventory. What's better is that players can directly trade with these villagers while they are in the closed block.
Though it drastically changes how players trade in the game, it still does not massively change the core game mechanics, which makes it somewhat close to vanilla.
5) Macaw's Furniture
Macaw's Furniture is a popular mod that adds loads of interior furniture blocks (Image via Mojang Studios || CurseForge/sketch_macaw)Macaw's Furniture is one of the most popular vanilla-like mods for Minecraft. Ever since the game was released, players have craved new kinds of furniture blocks. Though Mojang has added new furniture-related blocks, they are nowhere near as good as the blocks offered in this mod.
The mod brings blocks like chairs, sofas, stools, cupboards, shelves, a kitchen sink, drawers, tables, and much more.
