The San Francisco 49ers are reshaping their offense this offseason. So far, through the first week of free agency and the new league year, the 49ers have seen five notable wide receiver moves, or changes from 2025 to 2026.
The 49ers are adding Mike Evans and Christian Kirk on free agent contracts, and letting Jauan Jennings, Kendrick Bourne, and soon Brandon Aiyuk go this offseason. That's a lot of change, but more cold be coming for the offense in 2026.
NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah predicted in his latest mock draft that the 49ers will add another weapon for Brock Purdy and Kyle Shanahan at 27th overall. But, instead of another WR, Jeremiah mocked Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq to the 49ers in Round 1.

"This is the second time I've mocked Sadiq to the 49ers this year," Jeremiah writes. "He would be an amazing new toy for Kyle Shanahan.
While the 49ers' wide receiver room could use a rookie to round out the depth chart, the 49ers also need to land a new tight end this offseason.
George Kittle is incredible, but he's coming off a late-season Achilles injury, and his status for 2026 is uncertain. Taking Sadiq, the NFL Scouting Combine star with a 4.39 40-yard-dash, would be a very fun addition to help the offense.

Last year for Oregon, Sadiq had 51 receptions for 560 yards and eight touchdowns. While it's not some other-worldly season like some other tight ends have had in recent years, the promise he's shown is worth investing in.
Sadiq being added to the 49ers tight end room behind Kittle would be a very fun pickup for a 49ers team looking to get over the hump and win a Super Bowl for the first time in a long while.
While a tight end in the first round, with Kittle under contract and Jake Tonges re-signed for the next two years, might not make the most sense, Sadiq is the kind of player that would be worth the investment.
