The San Francisco 49ers took a step back in the pass-rushing department last season, finishing the year with just 20 sacks.
Luckily for the 49ers, CBS Sports Jordan Dajani crafted a brilliant free agent signing idea that would land San Francisco the brother of the franchise’s star Defensive end.
“Who wouldn't want to see the Bosa brothers together,” Dajani wrote Saturday. “Joey Bosa joining Nick Bosa in San Francisco would be fun. While the elder Bosa turns 31 this summer, he actually led the NFL with five forced fumbles in his one season with the Buffalo Bills.”
“The 15 games he played last year were his most since 2021, which was a step in the right direction for the oft-injured pass rusher, and Bosa recorded 29 tackles and five sacks. His 77 career sacks rank 10th in the NFL since his rookie year in 2016.”
There’s a lot to like about Bosa’s first season in Buffalo. The tactical and strategic edge rusher finished first in forced fumbles (five), 11th in batted passes (two), 18th in hits (12), and 30th in total pressures (47).
Simply put, the five-time Pro Bowler didn’t experience significant issues getting to the backfield and forcing opposing offenses to get out of their comfort zone/make decisions quicker than usual.
With Bosa’s brother, Nick, possessing a similar skill set, there’s no reason for San Francisco to close the door on a blockbuster free agent signing that would give the franchise’s opposition nightmares regularly.
With Bosa still available on the market, it wouldn’t be in the 49ers’ best interest to add him to their list of impactful defensive targets.
