The San Francisco 49ers are entering a big offseason. With an older offense and a defense in need of major revamping, there's a lot at stake this offseason.
John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan have their work cut out for them, with a lot of the focus being on the pass rush unit and the wide receiver room with Brandon Aiyuk's absence from the team.
With Jauan Jennings hitting free agency, the 49ers will need to decide whether to keep him or not. According to Spotrac.com, Jennings received a contract projection that would give him $22 million per-year over three years.
49ers' Jauan Jennings projected contract is for $22M, 3 years
Spotrac projects that Jennings' contract by Market Value will be for three years, and $22,614,441 per-year, or roughly $67.8 million on a three-year deal.
It's an expensive deal for Jennings, but considering the 49ers really only have Ricky Pearsall under contract in the wide receiver room for 2026, it might be worth it.
$22 million per-year for any player is expensive, but if the 49ers can bring back Jennings after his 2025 season with 55 catches, 643 yards, and nine touchdowns, it would be a good move.

Brock Purdy needs to have good weapons around him, and Pearsall has been inconsistent. George Kittle will be coming off a torn Achilles, and Christian McCaffrey just had an obscene workload and might not be 100% next year.
With Aiyuk expected to be cut or traded this offseason, the 49ers offense is in dire need of wide receiver help. Jennings' coming back is a big issue the 49ers must address, and if Spotrac's projection hits, this would be an expensive, but worth it, deal for the 49ers.
Adding Jennings, plus another receiver in the draft, makes the most sense for the 49ers. They cannot let Jennings walk, and a $22 million per-year deal, while expensive, wouldn't be the worst outcome for the 49ers with Jennings.
