The NFL offseason is well underway, and the San Francisco 49ers have been busy making a few big roster moves. Dre Greenlaw is back, and Vederian Lowe is a nice depth offensive line signing.
But the big moves have been the signing of Mike Evans and the trade for defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa. After all of those additions, there's still a huge hole next to Nick Bosa at defensive end.
Fortunately, as Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report writes, there's one free agent pass rusher whose best fit is with the 49ers. This fit is too obvious for both the player and the team, as Joey Bosa joining the 49ers makes too much sense this offseason.
49ers named best fit for Joey Bosa in free agency
"Edge Joey Bosa. Best Fit: San Francisco 49ers," Davenport writes. "A reunion with his younger brother would be a ince story, but bringing in Bosa is more about facts than feelings. The fact is, the 49ers need him."
The Bosa brothers linking up in San Francisco is a very fun storyline. Having brothers rush the passer from opposite sides of the offensive line as each other is incredibly interesting.
But, as Davenport notes, this move wouldn't be one made strictly for emotional reasons. The 49ers desperately need pass-rusher help this offseason. The defense generated just 20 sacks in 2025, with Brye Huff, who retired at 27 years old, having a team-best four sacks.

Bosa would be a huge plus for the 49ers, as he had five sacks last season for the Buffalo Bills in his first year away from the Los Angeles Chargers.
In his 10-year NFL career, Bosa has 77 sacks total with 96 tackles for loss and 172 quarterback hits. He's a great free agent option, especially since he might not cost too much compared to other free agent pass rushers.
There's no more obvious player-team fit this offseason than Bosa to the 49ers. Bosa is looking to play for a Super Bowl contender, while the 49ers desperately need to land pass-rusher help from the outside.
While there's been smoke about a possible free-agent link, nothing has happened yet. But if the 49ers do wind up signing Bosa this offseason, it would not be a surprise at all.
