The San Francisco 49ers (5-3) will look to get back in the win column after dropping their third game of the season to the Houston Texans in Week 8. Next, they will face the New York Giants.
Despite a long list of injuries throughout the regular season, the 49ers have been able to stay afloat in a highly competitive NFC West, staying right at the hip of the Seattle Seahawks (5-2) and the Los Angeles Rams (5-2).
Heading into the Week 9 matchup, injuries will still hold them back. On Friday, the team announced an injury designation for wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, who has missed the past four games with a knee injury.
49ers list WR Ricky Pearsall as out for Week 9 vs. Giants
On Friday, 49ers insider Cam Inman released a large list of injuries. One that included Ricky Pearsall, who will miss his fifth straight game. The team also listed quarterback Brock Purdy (toe) as questionable for the contest. If he's activated, he will serve as the backup quarterback behind Mac Jones.
Pearsall, 25, sustained a sprained PCL in his right knee in San Francisco's Week 4 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Before going down with the injury, Pearsall was the 49ers' top receiver in 2025. Through four games, he has 20 receptions and 327 receiving yards.
San Francisco will look to lean on wide receivers Jauan Jennings, Kendrick Bourne, Demarcus Robinson, and tight end George Kittle to take on the workload once again in Week 9.
