I can understand holding a grudge over something serious. But being rude on a train and having someone look up the ending of your book to spoil it for you? That’s a consequence I haven’t considered. Now I always make sure I’m being polite in public just in case.
My favorite petty revenge is the kind that leaves the other person slightly confused. No one’s calling the cops, but it’s a small inconvenience you’ll think about for a while.
These petty revenge stories include some clever payback and people I’m glad I don’t share an office with. I enjoyed reading them, but setting a hotel alarm for 3:30 a.m. before checking out should get you permanently assigned a room next to the ice machine.
