A multi-time champion in WWE has just continued in their recent run of setbacks in AEW. Despite putting on a valiant effort, they remain on a major losing streak and are nowhere near being in contention for a major title.
Roderick Strong is part of the AEW Continental Classic under the Blue League. He will always be a threat in the ring due to his technical expertise. He is at the top of the industry in focusing on damaging his opponent's backs, which has earned him the nickname of 'The Messiah of the Backbreaker'.
Earlier tonight on AEW Dynamite, Strong competed in his fourth out of the five matches scheduled for each entrant in the tournament. His previous matches have included losses to the likes of Konosuke Takeshita, Orange Cassidy, and Jon Moxley. Tonight, it was Mascara Dorada who was facing off with him.
The former WWE Superstar looked great in the ring, as he even controlled the momentum of the match at one point. Despite his recent unfortunate run, he has looked great in his matches. Dorada, on the other hand, has been in a decent run of his own, as he pulled off an upset win against Claudio Castagnoli.
Unfortunately, both men are at the bottom of their group. The luchador was able to keep his tournament hopes alive after hitting Roderick Strong with a Shooting Star Press for the win.
Roddy has been mathematically eliminated from the tournament for some time now, as he is still at 0 points, and unfortunately, that is still the same case after tonight, as he is at 4 losses. Mascara Dorada, on the other hand, is still alive as he is now tied for the 3rd spot with 6 points. The luchador now has to wait for the rest of the Blue League matches to see whether he still has a fighting chance.
