Clothing design seems pretty straightforward until you remember that pockets, patterns, and graphics all have to go in very specific places.

Move one flower two inches to the left and suddenly nobody can wear those pants in public. Put the wrong phrase on a children’s shirt and now a manager has to explain how it made it through six rounds of approval. Even mannequins look embarrassed by some of these. The funniest clothing design fails are rarely boring.

Somebody designed these. Somebody approved them. And somewhere, presumably, somebody looked at the finished product and said, “Perfect. Make 10,000.”
