The legendary career of The Greatest of All Time, John Cena, is about to culminate in less than a month. The Never Seen 17 has only three appearances left as an in-ring performer, with his farewell tour approaching the end on December 13, at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event.

In his 23-year tenure as a WWE superstar, Cena has faced rising stars, top legends, and future Hall of Famers. However, numerous former WWE names who are currently part of All Elite Wrestling never had the chance to share the ring with him. Here are the top five AEW stars who never wrestled John Cena during their WWE run.

#5. Ricochet

Ricochet is one of the most exciting additions to the AEW roster since he underwent a character change in the company. Although he had displayed his exceptional high-flying skills and given countless exciting matches in WWE on numerous occasions, that was not enough to get him a signficant push during his run, and that could have possibly been one of the reasons WWE never chose to put him in a match with the GOAT, John Cena.

#4. Adam Cole

Adam Cole was the crowning jewel of WWE's developmental promotion, NXT, in the early 2020s. He was the top champion and had a remarkable run as the leader of The Undisputed Era. However, during his impeccable rise to the top, John Cena rarely made appearances on WWE television. Moreover, the 17-time World Champion did not appear on NXT television during Cole's tenure, possibly leading fans to miss out on that showdown.

#3. Keith Lee

Much like Adam Cole, Keith Lee was another standout in-ring performer to graduate from WWE NXT in the 2020s. He possessed the physical stature and impressive in-ring ability that earned him a memorable moment against one of WWE's top stars, Roman Reigns, representing NXT, at the 2019 Survivor Series pay-per-view event. However, Lee missed out on a bout with the other golden goose, John Cena, during his time in the global juggernaut.

#2. Buddy Matthews

Buddy Matthews spent the majority of his run in WWE as a tag team wrestler or a sidekick performer. It was only during a program with Seth Rollins and the Mysterio Family that he got some spotlight of his own. While he has had better runs in AEW as a singles performer, Matthews was a majorly mid-card attraction. His status on the roster and John Cena's absence during the pandemic era are possible reasons why he may not have been given a match with The Never Seen 17.

#1. Swerve Strickland

Swerve Strickland was a part of the HitRow stable during his tenure in WWE that lasted from 2019 to 2021. He did not make any signficant impact during his tenure and was eventually released from the company. However, Strickland reinvented himself in AEW as a major top star, won the AEW World Championship, and headlined marquee events for the company. While it did not happen in WWE during Strickland's tenure, a match between the All Elite version of Swerve Strickland and John Cena would have been a spectacular showdown.
