The Vancouver Canucks suffered a disappointing 5-2 defeat to the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center on Monday. The Canucks currently sit seventh in the Pacific Division with a 15-18-3 record.
The Canucks struggled defensively, getting outshot 39-25 and collapsing in the third period after allowing four goals. The team's offense was also limited to late goals from Max Sasson and Drew O'Connor, while netminder Thatcher Demko conceded four goals on 38 shots before an empty-netter.
Below are the three least impressive Vancouver Canucks players from the loss against the Philadelphia Flyers.
3 least Vancouver Canucks players from loss to Philadelphia Flyers
#3 Linus Karlsson
Karlsson posted a -2 plus/minus with zero shots on goal and no points in just 10:24 of even-strength time. As a bottom-six forward, he offered little offensive spark or physical presence, contributing to the Canucks’ anemic first two periods, where they managed only seven shots combined.
His lack of engagement exemplified the forward group’s struggles to generate momentum against a stout Flyers defense.
#2 Evander Kane
Despite firing four shots, Kane ended at -2 with no points and was ineffective in board battles. He clocked 18:59 minutes of ice time but couldn’t convert chances and was part of the defensive breakdowns that led to Philadelphia’s multi-goal third-period run.
In a low-scoring affair, his inability to tilt the ice stood out as particularly frustrating for his standards.
#1 Filip Hronek
Hronek posted the game’s worst plus/minus at -4, meaning he was on the ice for four more Flyers goals than Canucks tallies. He logged 22:09 minutes of ice time but was directly beaten on a drive to Carl Grundstrom’s third-period goal that made it 2-0.
The defenseman had no points, just two shots and two blocked shots, which couldn’t offset the defensive lapses in a game where the back end leaked three third-period goals.
The Vancouver Canucks return to Rogers Arena against the San Jose Sharks next on Saturday. The puck drops at 10 p.m. ET.
