The Montreal Canadiens suffered a 4-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers at the Bell Centre on Tuesday. The Canadiens generated little offense and made costly errors that handed the Flyers an easy win.
The Habs took a 1-0 lead early, but could not maintain their momentum. The only bright spot for them was Alexandre Texier, who was the lone scorer for the hosts in the game.
Below are the least impressive Montreal Canadiens players from the loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.
3 least Montreal Canadiens players from 4-1 loss to Philadelphia Flyers
#3 Josh Anderson
Anderson helped set up Montreal’s lone goal with a strong puck carry and a back-pass, but immediately after, he failed to cover his man defensively on the following shift, leaving Carl Grundstrom open for the quick tying goal in the opening frame.
The defensive lapse shifted momentum early and exemplified the team’s overall lack of urgency.
2. Jacob Fowler
Fowler was involved in a critical communication breakdown behind the net late in the second period. He stopped the puck, expecting a teammate to retrieve it, but Matvei Michkov stole it and set up Bobby Brink for the 3-1 goal, sealing the game.
The team allowed three goals on limited high-danger chances, with this mistake standing out. Fowler made 17 saves and posted an .850 save percentage between the pipes.
#1 Ivan Demidov Demidov
Demidov directly contributed to the Flyers’ go-ahead goal with a poor decision in the offensive zone—taking the puck away from teammate Alexandre Carrier and retreating toward the blue line, which led to a 2-on-1 rush and Trevor Zegras’s goal.
He also took a cross-checking penalty earlier, adding to the team’s struggles. Demidov finished the night with a minus-2.
The Montreal Canadiens have lost back-to-back games at home, sitting fourth in the Atlantic Division with a 17-12-4 record. The Habs continue their homestand against the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. ET.
