Bryce Underwood and Arch Manning will lead their respective teams against each other on Wednesday attempting to cover up the disappointment of missing the playoffs. Apart from missing the playoffs, both teams have something in common from the just concluded regular season.
They were both beaten by Ohio State. Manning's Texas opened the season with a 14-7 loss at Ohio State. Conversely, Michigan lost 27-9 to the Buckeyes in the season finale.
Both programs also finished with a 9-3 record, despite coming into the season with so much hype surrounding them. Bryce Underwood and Arch Manning both had their first seasons as starting quarterbacks for their respective teams. Although Underwood had the responsibility thrust upon him as a true freshman, Manning has had years of preparation waiting behind Quinn Ewers.
Underwood had a more underwhelming season than Manning, throwing for 2,229 yards, nine touchdowns, and six interceptions. He rushed for an additional 323 yards and five touchdowns in 74 carries.
Manning, on the other hand, threw for nearly 3000 yards, 24 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He also covered an additional 244 yards, scoring eight additional touchdowns on 83 runs.
The Citrus Bowl is set to kick off at 3:00 p.m. (ET) on Wednesday.
