The Los Angeles Lakers are in a position where they don't have many tradable pieces, but the players on the roster are all easy to move on from. Outside of Luka Doncic and LeBron James, there isn't a player on the Lakers roster who can't be traded, including Rui Hachimura.
Hachimura, a decent player for the Lakers, has put together a nice career for himself. He averaged 13.1 points and shot 41.3% from 3-point range a season ago.
Even in the postseason, he was one of the lone players against the Minnesota Timberwolves to do much, scoring 23 points in each of the final two games.
However, according to a report from the Orange County Register, he could be a trade candidate this offseason because of his $18.3 million salary, which is part of an expiring deal.
“With an $18.3 million salary for next season that is part of an expiring deal, and it being evident that he’s still rounding out his game and developing, Hachimura will likely come up in offseason trade buzz as the Lakers look to upgrade their roster after back-to-back first-round playoff exits.

“But the Lakers’ belief in Hachimura has been evident, and with how important he was for them, the Lakers would need to make a significant upgrade at a position of need for Hachimura to be on another team at the start of the 2025-26 season,” Khobi Price wrote.
Expiring deals in this current CBA are very valuable around the NBA. If the Lakers can move on from Hachimura for a player with multiple years who can give them a similar skill set, or a center, that the Lakers clearly need, it might not be the worst idea to trade him.
