The New Orleans Pelicans have had yet another look at the production a healthy Zion Williamson can offer to begin the 2025-26 campaign.
New Orleans remains winless with an 0-2 start to the new year, but an upcoming matchup against a depleted Boston Celtics squad on Monday night could give them an opportunity to nab their first victory.
Unfortunately, an addition was recently made to Williamson's long and well-documented list of previous injuries and ailments on Monday afternoon, according to ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel.
"Zion Williamson is dealing with a left foot bone contusion and is currently listed as questionable to play tonight for the Pelicans against the Celtics," Siegel shared via X/Twitter on Monday.
"This is a new injury for Williamson."
After dealing with a myriad of lower-body injuries and having missed roughly 48% of his 412 possible regular season appearances since his NBA debut in 2019, a brand new injury could keep the high-flying forward out of action against a battered Celtics group.
For the 0-3 Celtics, their 2024 Finals MVP and 4-time All-Star Jaylen Brown has also been deemed questionable due to a left hamstring strain. With the contest inching closer, it will be interesting to see which team's medical staff blinks first with regard to throwing an availability label on their banged-up star.
With the pair of teams aiming to come away with win No. 1 on the young season, their respective decisions will have a massive impact on the outcome of the meeting. To this point, both players have remained questionable.
Through his first two games of the season, Williamson has returned to All-Star form.
The versatile 6-foot-6 leaper has averaged 27.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 4.0 steals paired with a 46.2% field goal percentage prior to his potential matchup against Brown and the Celtics.
