Buccaneers offer worrying injury update on star offensive trio

3 hours ago 1

Many Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans will breathe a sigh of relief now that the team is on its bye week and the chance for players to return from injury increases.

Now with two weeks of rehab and practice, the expectation is that some of Tampa Bay's injured stars might be able to return against the New England Patriots in Week 10.

Luke Goedeke, Bucky Irving, and Chris Godwin loom as the three who could make their return in the coming weeks, but head coach Todd Bowles was non-committal on the trio being able to return when the team comes off its bye.

"I think that'll be discussed at the end of the week," Bowles said of the trio doing more in practice. "I think those guys will start doing some things this week depending on the progress they make. We'll see how practice goes next week if they can get some things done this week, but I don't have a timeline on it either. Just got to see how they're progressing."

When will Mike Evans return?

We know that Irving, Godwin, and Goedeke could return in the coming weeks, but it's not as simple for Pro Bowl receiver Mike Evans.

Suffering a broken collarbone in the loss to the Detroit Lions, his expected return, should everything go well in his recovery, is the middle of December. So, Baker Mayfield will be without No. 13 for the foreseeable future.

The bye week came at the right time for Tampa Bay, and while many thought it would mean a host of players would be able to get healthy and return to the field, it appears it might not be as straightforward as that.
